Autumn nails are the easiest way to feel like you’ve switched seasons, even when you’re still in the same jacket you were wearing in August.
Something about the colours just does it, the deep browns, the oxblood, the tortoiseshell, that burnt copper shimmer that only turns up in certain light.
The tricky bit is choosing. There’s a big difference between a glossy chocolate almond you can wear to the office and a set covered in plaid, bows and tiny smiling mushrooms, and both are completely autumn.
Some of these are the sort of thing you’ll still like in three weeks when it’s grown out a little, others are worth booking for a specific night out or a holiday dinner.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Book
Dark colours are more forgiving than you’d think. Chocolate brown and oxblood hide small chips and dents way better than a bright colour or a pale nude does. If you’re rough on your hands, that’s a real advantage.
Detailed art doesn’t last as long. Anything raised, 3D flowers, gold charms, textured swirls, is the first thing to catch on a sleeve or a car door. Keep those on two or three nails max, and ideally not on your index finger.
Glitter grows out better than solid colour. The sparkle breaks up the regrowth line at your cuticle, so a glitter set still looks fine at week three when a plain one would look obviously grown out.
Bring the photo, don’t describe it. Autumn shades especially get lost in translation, “brown” could mean anything from taupe to almost-black. Show your tech the picture, and if there’s a specific finish involved, name it: tortoiseshell, chrome, ombre, textured.
Rhinestones need to be sealed, not glued. Ask for them under the top coat. Glued on top, they’ll be gone within the week.
Match your shape to your length. Square tips read shorter, almond and stiletto elongate. If you’re going for a busy pattern like plaid or checkerboard, a shorter square or almond holds it better than a long pointed nail does.
